Handling

• Dissolving this product generates a great deal of heat. Use cool water — below 27 °C (80 °F) — when diluting or dissolving it.
• Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not swallow.
• Wash thoroughly after handling and keep the container tightly closed.

Personal protective equipment

• Hands: gloves chemically resistant to this material — also for brief exposures if hands are cut or scratched
• Eyes: safety glasses with side shields; chemical goggles for dusty work or when handling solutions
• Body: clean, body-covering clothing
• Feet: protective footwear
• Ventilation: general ventilation is sufficient for most operations; local exhaust may be needed for some

Storage

Store in a dry place, protected from atmospheric moisture. Keep the container tightly closed and keep it separated from incompatible substances.

Incompatible materials

Hygroscopic, and liberates large amounts of heat when dissolving in water or aqueous acids — spattering and boiling can occur. Attacks metals in the presence of moisture and may release flammable hydrogen gas; contact with zinc forms flammable hydrogen gas that can be explosive.
