Handling

• Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing dust, vapours, mist or fume. Do not ingest.
• Contact with water forms sulphuric acid — keep the product dry until it is used.
• Keep containers closed when not in use; empty containers may contain hazardous residues.
• Minimise dust generation and accumulation; dry sweeping is not recommended.
• Use good personal hygiene — wash hands before eating, drinking or smoking.

Personal protective equipment

• Hands: neoprene, PVC, vinyl or rubber gloves
• Eyes: chemical goggles, plus a face shield if a splashing hazard exists
• Body: suitable protective clothing selected for the use conditions and exposure potential
• Feet: protective footwear
• Respiratory: an approved dust mask for dust concentrations up to 10 mg/m³; an air-purifying respirator with acid gas/fume/mist cartridges above that
• Ventilation: ventilation sufficient to keep airborne dust, fume or mist below the exposure limit

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Keep containers tightly closed and place away from incompatible materials. Keep away from temperatures over 760 °C.

Incompatible materials

Strong bases. Strong oxidizing agents. Alkalis. Water-reactive materials such as oleum cause exothermic reactions. May corrode ferrous metals and mild steel in the presence of moisture. Contact with water forms sulphuric acid.
